This dataset reports concentrations of six antibiotics—oxytetracycline, ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, sulfamethazine, ofloxacin, and norfloxacin—measured in surface water and wastewater from two catchments in India: Dera Bassi (Punjab) and Bhiwadi (Rajasthan). Samples were collected at four time points between May 2022 and June 2023 from the River Ghaggar and wastewater effluent sites.

Provenance & quality

This dataset contains concentrations of six antibiotics (oxytetracycline, ciprofloxacin, enrofloxacin, sulfamethazine, ofloxacin, norfloxacin) measured at seven locations across two catchments in India: the Dera Bassi catchment (Punjab) and the Bhiwadi catchment (Rajasthan). Water samples—comprising river water from the River Ghaggar (Dera Bassi) and wastewater effluent from the Bhiwadi region—were collected at four time points between May 2022 and June 2023 (May 2022, October 2022, January 2023, June 2023). All samples were extracted using solid-phase extraction methods at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. Extracts were then transported to the University of Leeds for chemical analysis using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Analytical procedures followed adapted methods from Singh et al. (2019) to ensure comparability and reliability. Quality control measures—including method blanks, matrix spikes, and replicate analyses—were applied throughout to ensure data integrity.
